22nd Presidential Export Award Ceremony on September 18

Presidential Export Awards is the most coveted award that every exporter in the country yearn to achieve each year, said Chairman of the Export Development Board Mrs.Indira Malwatta at the press conference held to announce the annual PEA  Awards ceremony.

The 22nd Presidential Export Awards (PEA) organised by Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) will be held on 18 September under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

The Presidential Export Award, is the highest and the most prestigious award presented by the President of Sri Lanka to exporters in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the export sector and to economic development of the country.

A total of 59 awards consisting 11 overall awards and 48 sectoral awards will be presented during the ceremony.

Addressing the media further Mrs.Malwatta said that there were many different export award schemes in the country, but PEA is the one that every exporter is looking for.“This not only encourages the higher management of the company, but it also gives pride and recognition to the entire staff,” she added.

Recalling that  the award scheme was the brainchild of late Minister Lalith Athulathmudali, she further said that he had far sighted vision to include services sector into the export basket, which was only dominated with traditional merchandise products.

  2. Exporter of the Year
  3. Net Foreign Exchange Earner
  4. Market Diversified Exporter
  5. Sri Lankan Export Brand
  6. Employment Provider in the Export Industry
  7. Contributor from the Regions to the Export Supply Chain
  1. Contributor to Sustainable Development in Exports
  2. Woman Exporter of the Year

 Product/Service Sector Awards for Individual Export Companies:

 There are two types of Product/Service Sector Awards:

  1. Highest Foreign Exchange Earner
  2. Emerging Exporter
  • Highest Foreign Exchange Earner :

The Exporters recording the highest foreign exchange earnings in the financial year ending 31st March 2018 in each of thirty eight (38) products and service sectors in the annex I will be awarded.

  • Emerging Exporter

The Exporters who achieves the highest export growth rate from the sectors that contribute a minimum of US$ 100 Mn or at least 1% of the total exports.

Following product/service sectors are considered for Product/Service Sector Awards of Highest Foreign Exchange Earner Award and Emerging Exporter Award.
