Sri Lanka Tourism is ready to welcome global travelers starting from 21st January 2021 almost after 10 months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

As Sri Lanka opens the borders for international visitors detailed safety protocols and processes have been put in place to ensure health and safety of both the travelers and the local community while enabling travelers to have a great time.

Key highlights of the process in place are that Sri Lanka does not require a minimum number of days to stay and offers ‘Quarantine free’ visitor experience where the visitors are allowed to enjoy all facilities in their respective hotels including the swimming pools, spas, gym etc.

However, the only requirement put in place for the safety of the traveler, tourism stakeholders and Sri Lankan community is the need for the travelers to stay at a ‘Safe and Secure’ certified, Level 1 hotel or hotels in the initial 14 days of their stay. This ensures the creation of a bio-bubble for the international visitors assuring the safety of the local communities, employees of the industry and the visitors to the country. The respective hotels and accommodation providers along with the travel agents and tour operators will be entrusted to ensure that visitors don’t break the bubble of safety.

Sri Lanka Tourism has created an information portal on www.srilanka.travel/helloagain which will carry all relevant notices, updated safety protocols and processes, marketing materials and important contact information. The visitors and industry stakeholders are requested to frequently visit the site and to be aware of the updates and requirements. Also, a 24-hour operational center has been set up by Sri Lanka Tourism to coordinate the operations and to support the industry with all clarifications and coordination support. The Center can be contacted through the hotline 1912 and emailed through helloagain@srilanka.travel.

Ministry of Tourism and Sri Lanka Tourism has worked very closely with the Ministry of Health and the Covid Task force in setting the guidelines and putting the protocols in place. Also, working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority, Airport & Aviation, and Department of Immigration & Emigration and with the industry stakeholders in adapting these protocols to ensure that Sri Lanka is open and open in the right way.

Sri Lanka Tourism has delivered a series of webinars, training and discussion sessions targeting the Tourism industry in preparing them for the new normal ensuring the high service quality and best experience for the travellers. With all these measures, processes and protocols set in place, Sri Lanka is ‘ready’ and Sri Lanka is ‘open’ to welcome back our visitors.
