Apex Point: Hodgson’s Return Steers Sri Lanka’s Supermoto Talent Forward

The return of 19-time British Supermoto Champion Chris Hodgson in 2025 delivered a decisive uplift to Sri Lanka’s motorcycle racing ecosystem. On December 21 at Katukurunda, Hodgson led a high-calibre rider training programme, working intensively with a selected group of nearly 30 competitors to refine technique, sharpen race awareness, and strengthen competitive discipline.
The initiative was strategically organised by the Federation of Motorcycle Sports Sri Lanka (FMSSL) in collaboration with former National Supermoto Champion Sangeeth Suriyage. FMSSL’s end-to-end coordination—covering circuit scheduling, rider certification, operational management, and post-event hospitality—reflected a professional, athlete-first approach. This effort aligned closely with the developmental vision of FMSSL President Mr. Sudath Weerasinghe, focused on producing confident riders capable of advancing to higher tiers of the sport.
More than a single training day, the programme served as a performance benchmark and a long-term investment in elevating Sri Lanka’s motorcycle racing standards. Racing In Sri Lanka was honoured to act as the official coverage partner, documenting a meaningful stride in the sport’s continued growth.
