Sri Lanka Army Confirms Permanent Posts for 826 Civilian Employees

A total of 826 temporary and contract-based civilian employees of the Sri Lanka Army received permanent appointments during a ceremony held on 1 June at Army Headquarters, Kotte. Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), who presided over the event, said the appointments were implemented under the Government’s policy framework and 2026 Budget proposals to address long-standing employment insecurity. He described the move as a milestone in ensuring job security, social justice, and economic stability for employees and their families. The Deputy Minister also commended the dedication of Army civilian staff in supporting military operations and post-war nation-building, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to enhancing their welfare and benefits.
