Uplifting humanitarian assistance mechanisms and fortifying rapid-response resilience

Sri Lanka and India convened a high-level bilateral dialogue on the sidelines of the 7th National Security Advisers-level Meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), held in New Delhi from 19–20 November 2025.

The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), while the Indian team was headed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, KC.

Both sides engaged in a purposeful and comprehensive exchange, reviewing shared security priorities and reaffirming their commitment to regional stability. Discussions centred on strengthening cooperation across the CSC’s five strategic pillars:

  • Maritime safety and security,
  • Countering terrorism and preventing radicalisation,
  • Combating trafficking networks and transnational organised crime,
  • Advancing cyber-security collaboration, and
  • Uplifting humanitarian assistance mechanisms and fortifying rapid-response resilience.

The dialogue underscored the enduring partnership between the two nations and their shared resolve to deepen security cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
