In the spirit of continued defence cooperation, Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) met with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan, in a side-line meeting held on Thursday, May 1.
The meeting reflected the enduring bonds of strategic understanding between the two nations, unfolding in a calm and purposeful setting that echoed Sri Lanka’s timeless heritage and commitment to peace through strength.
Accompanying the Defence Secretary were some of the island’s most senior defence leaders — Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, Additional Secretary (Defence) Mr. Jayantha Edirisinghe, Sri Lanka Army Chief of Staff Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, and Sri Lanka Air Force Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera.
Together, they formed a commanding presence, uniting the leadership of Sri Lanka’s tri-forces in a gesture of unity and trust. Their shared engagement with Admiral Ashraf marked another quiet yet meaningful chapter in the narrative of regional diplomacy — where conversation becomes a tool for balance, and presence a symbol of mutual respect.
On this island of ancient wisdom and modern resolve, the voices of command moved with quiet confidence — guardians of a nation, visionaries of its peace.
