Deputy Minister Drops In on Navy, Praises Strategic Operations

On 7 October, Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters in Colombo. Warmly welcomed by Commander Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, he took the opportunity to observe the Naval Operation Room, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), and the Information Fusion Centre (IFC), gaining insight into the Navy’s operational dynamics.

He commended the Navy’s valiant anti-narcotic and On-board Security Team (OBST) operations, highlighting their critical role in safeguarding national security and advancing the country’s strategic interests. Emphasising the importance of Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), he underscored the need to enhance operational readiness, professionalism, and vigilance.

In his address to senior officers, the Deputy Minister also stressed the principles of integrity, accountability, and disciplined leadership, urging all personnel to uphold the highest standards in fulfilling their duties.
