Türkiye’s 102nd Republic Day Celebrated in Colombo, Highlighting Enduring Bilateral Friendship
The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Sri Lanka hosted an elegant reception at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, on 29 October 2025, to celebrate the 102nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye. The occasion was attended by Hon. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, as Chief Guest, alongside Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) as Guests of Honour.
Welcoming the distinguished gathering, Ambassador Lütfü Turgut highlighted the deep-rooted and expanding cooperation between Türkiye and Sri Lanka in education, trade, culture, and defence. He expressed Türkiye’s commitment to further enhancing these partnerships. Minister Sunil Senevi praised the strong diplomatic and cultural bonds shared between the two countries and emphasized the importance of nurturing them for future prosperity.
The event drew an eminent audience, including Cabinet Ministers, ambassadors, senior military leaders, and members of the diplomatic corps, symbolizing the mutual respect and growing friendship between Türkiye and Sri Lanka.
