Deputy Minister Advances Defence Cooperation in Riyadh

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), attended the World Defense Show (WDS) 2026 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following an official invitation. Held from 8 to 12 February, the event serves as a premier global platform for defence and security, bringing together senior government officials, military leaders, and defence industry stakeholders from around the world.

During the exhibition, the Deputy Minister toured the extensive display facilities featuring more than 1,486 participants representing 89 countries, including leading defence companies and government institutions. The event showcased cutting-edge advancements across air, land, sea, space, and security domains.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Major General Jayasekara is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with high-level government and military officials. These engagements aim to explore concrete avenues for enhanced defence cooperation and further strengthen existing bilateral partnerships.
