Bremen Blitz Powers Up Lanka–Germany Economic Push

A high-level business promotion programme held on 27 February 2026 in Bremen brought together major trade chambers, business associations, and leading German companies to strengthen Sri Lanka–Germany relations, explore the German market, and promote Sri Lanka Expo 2026. Organized by OAV Bremen and Bremen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Bremen) with coordination by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin, the programme was attended by Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, EDB Chairman & CEO.
Key discussions with IHK Bremen President André Grobien and officials highlighted Sri Lanka’s export potential, strategic location, advanced port infrastructure, and investment opportunities. Mr. Wijesinghe invited IHK Bremen to lead a delegation to Sri Lanka Expo 2026, which was warmly received. A business roundtable engaged German companies on logistics, tourism, trade, and skilled workforce opportunities, while the EDB Chairman delivered a detailed presentation on Expo 2026.
Separate meetings with Andreas Bovenschulte and Johann Wadephul explored collaborations in automotive, logistics, tourism, and trade, as well as strengthening ties within the EU framework. The programme concluded with the 125th anniversary of OAV Bremen at Bremen Town Hall, where Minister Herath was Guest of Honour and keynote speaker. The EDB leveraged the event to engage business leaders, promote Sri Lanka Expo 2026, and pave the way for deeper future collaboration.
