“Code of the Island: FITIS Sparks a Digital Renaissance”

Beneath the coastal skies of Wattala, at the Pegasus Reef Hotel, a new digital destiny was declared. The Federation of Information Technology (FITIS), gathering the nation’s leading tech minds, unveiled an inspired mission: to reimagine Sri Lanka as Asia’s next digital frontier—agile, inclusive, and globally competitive.

In the words of Chairman Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, “A digitally literate society is our richest currency. With precision, purpose, and people-first innovation, Sri Lanka can become a luminous node in the global digital network.”

From AI-led adaptation to workforce transformation, from grassroots skill-building to policy architecture, FITIS outlined a vision where technology is not only a tool—but a national language.

A cornerstone of this journey is a forthcoming research paper—an intellectual map to guide Sri Lanka’s engagement with the digital economy, due by September. As part of its bold alignment with the DigiEcon 2030 roadmap, FITIS aspires to help reach the USD 15 billion digital target through seven dynamic chapters—from infrastructure to education—each driving a piece of the transformation.

With collaborative insights from leaders like Shanaka Fernando, Mangala Rodrigo, Kalinga Ihalagedera, and Christie Samuel, the movement has momentum.

This is not just a plan—it’s a pulse. A signal. A call to all dreamers, coders, creators, and citizens: Sri Lanka’s digital tomorrow is being written—line by line, byte by byte.
