From Shores to Strongholds: UAE–Sri Lanka Chart a New Course in Strategic Defence

On 13 August, H.E. Khaled Nasser Sulaiman AlAmeri, UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy visit to Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Ministry of Defence, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral strategic ties. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in defence production, cyber security, intelligence sharing, and disaster relief operations.
Ambassador AlAmeri also commended the contributions of Sri Lankan professionals and workers in the UAE, highlighting their vital role in fostering socio-economic development and reinforcing people-to-people bonds between the two countries. Seasonal greetings and commemorative mementos were exchanged, reflecting goodwill and mutual respect. Brigadier Kasun Adhikari, Deputy Military Liaison Officer, was also present, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the meeting.
