HL-FRAC Meets to Step Up and Streamline Foreign Relief Aid Efforts

The High-Level Committee for Foreign Relief Aid (Supplies) Coordination (HL-FRAC) met on 3 February at the Parliament Complex to step up coordination of foreign relief assistance and roll out clear measures to tighten up transparency and operational efficiency. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd).

During the session, committee members mapped out how aid would be sent out and channeled through a fair and systematic process, ensuring support gets to the right communities while also gearing up systems to handle future supply needs.

The Deputy Minister called for closer institutional coordination to make full use of foreign relief support and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to follow through on accountability and responsiveness. He also directed that all relevant reports and information be passed on to the Presidential Secretariat without delay. Senior officials from the Disaster Management Centre, the Ministry of Defence, the Presidential Secretariat, and Sri Lanka Customs took part in the meeting.
