Maj. Gen. Ruwan Wanigasooriya Steps Down, Leaving a Legacy of Dedicated Service

Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), bid farewell to his post at the Ministry of Defence on 27 October upon reaching the age of 60, the mandatory retirement age for service officers.
A highly respected and accomplished officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Maj. Gen. Wanigasooriya has faithfully served the nation throughout his distinguished military career. As Chief of National Intelligence, he worked tirelessly to strengthen the country’s intelligence network and fostered closer cooperation among security agencies to enhance national security coordination.
He assumed office as Chief of National Intelligence in January this year, undertaking his responsibilities with unwavering dedication and professionalism.
The Ministry of Defence extended its appreciation to Maj. Gen. Wanigasooriya for his outstanding commitment, distinguished service, and notable contributions toward safeguarding the nation’s security.
