Mission Reboot’ initiative accelerates collaboration to transform Tri-Forces veterans into catalysts of national enterprise and innovation.

A progress review meeting on the ‘Defence Contribution to National Entrepreneurship Development and Business Startup Programs’—a flagship effort under the ‘Mission Reboot’ initiative—was held on October 30 at the Deputy Minister’s Office in Colombo. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Defence, aims to empower retiring and retired Tri-Forces personnel to transition seamlessly into civilian life by becoming entrepreneurs and contributors to the national economy.

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Mr. Nalin Hewage, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Mr. Chathuranga Abeysinghe, reflecting a strong spirit of inter-ministerial collaboration. Senior officials, including the Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) and the Director General of the Vocational Training Authority Major General Priyantha Weerasinghe (Retd), also participated.

Discussions centered on evaluating the current progress of the ongoing entrepreneurship project, refining training methodologies, and expanding administrative support structures for retiring service personnel. The program identifies and trains suitable candidates through specialized modules on business planning, financial literacy, digital marketing, and sector-specific technology.
