Sri Lanka EDB Rolls Forward Export Capability-Building Drive

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently hosted a networking and capacity-building session at its premises in Colombo, aimed at equipping new and prospective exporters with the knowledge and industry connections required to succeed in international markets.
A large number of entrepreneurs preparing to enter the export sector participated in the programme, during which experienced industry professionals shared practical insights critical to export success. Key areas covered included participation in international trade fairs, export market research, building trust with overseas buyers, effective communication strategies, and meeting global quality and compliance standards.
Addressing the participants, EDB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mangala Wijesinghe stated that the Board is working diligently to strengthen export readiness and position 2026 as a more prosperous year for Sri Lankan exporters.
The session featured expert contributions from Samantha Thamel, Managing Director of Rancrisp Marketing; Christopher Fernando, Executive Director of Malwatte Valley Plantations; Dr. Upali Ranasinghe, Chairman of C. R. Exports; Udayakantha Wickramasinghe, a consultant with extensive experience in aquatic exports; and Tyrell Delukshan Fernando, Managing Director of the People’s Organization for Development of Import & Export (PODIE).
Senior EDB officials, including Dr. Sanjeewa Ratnasekara, Director of the Trade Information and Trade Facilitation Division, also participated in the event.
