The Conversation After the Handshake

The Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Sergey Viktorov, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Ministry of Defence on 8 July.

Held in a cordial atmosphere, the meeting focused on further strengthening the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan. Discussions centred on expanding cooperation in defence, military training and exchange programmes, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), regional security, and capacity building.

The engagement also provided an opportunity to exchange views on broadening bilateral collaboration and fostering closer ties between the two countries. Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Kazakhstan, Mr. Rustem Jamankulov, also attended the meeting.
