Tokyo Gets Hooked on Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka brought its colourful mix of culture, wildlife, beaches, Ayurveda and wellness experiences to JATA Tourism Expo 2026 in Tokyo, attracting Japanese and international visitors while strengthening links with the travel trade.
Sri Lanka Tourism participated in JATA Tourism Expo 2026, one of Japan’s largest international tourism exhibitions, held from September 24 to 27 at Tokyo Big Sight, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan.
The Sri Lanka delegation included SriLankan Airlines and 22 tourism stakeholders, presenting a broad range of experiences — from the island’s rich cultural heritage and abundant wildlife to pristine beaches, Ayurveda, wellness and other attractions.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion was officially inaugurated on September 24 in the presence of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Professor Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe.
The pavilion gave Japanese and international visitors an opportunity to discover the island’s natural beauty, cultural richness and warm hospitality.
The exhibition also provided Sri Lanka with an important platform to build B2B and B2C connections, strengthen relationships with tourism partners and promote the country as a diverse destination in the Japanese and wider international markets.
Sri Lanka Tourism’s participation further strengthened its engagement with Japan’s tourism industry and the international travel trade, while putting the island’s many experiences in front of potential travellers.
