Yevan David Hits the Fast Lane as Sri Lanka’s First in New Zealand Racing

Sri Lanka is set to make history as Yevan David joins Kiwi Motorsport for the 2026 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy in New Zealand. By stepping onto the grid, David becomes the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in New Zealand’s premier single-seater championship, now entering its 21st season.
From Karting to Formula Racing: Yevan’s Meteoric Rise
David’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. After making waves in the 2025 Euroformula Open Championship, finishing as the top rookie, Yevan is now set to kick off his New Zealand campaign—a prelude to his anticipated step up to FIA Formula 3 with AIX Racing.
Like many leading junior formula drivers, Yevan got his start in karting before moving up to Formula 4, where he competed extensively throughout 2024. Making His Mark Internationally
In addition to his success in Euroformula Open, Yevan made his GB3 Championship debut, picking up 15 points across three Silverstone races. His performance underlines a rapid rise and exceptional racing acumen, positioning him as one of the most promising young talents in motorsport today.
