“March of Diplomacy: When Uniforms Cross Oceans, Alliances Endure”
Sri Lanka and Pakistan Strengthen Defence Kinship in Quiet Resolve

On July 22, amidst the hushed corridors of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence, a quiet but firm handshake bridged two nations. Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army, arrived not with spectacle, but with solemn purpose—a visit steeped in shared memories, strategic vision, and soldierly fraternity.
With Colonel Muhammad Farooq, Defence Advisor to the Pakistan High Commission, at his side, the General called upon Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), engaging in a warm and forward-looking dialogue. The discussion echoed familiar themes—capacity enhancement, mutual resilience, and the enduring value of Pakistan’s military training to Sri Lankan personnel. There was clear recognition of past collaborations, including the recent Defence Dialogue in Islamabad, now evolving into future plans.
Later, the General was received by Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), in a meeting that reinforced strategic kinship. The same language of trust and continuity prevailed, affirming that while uniforms may differ, the spirit of cooperation remains steadfast.
In a world often distracted by noise and display, this visit was a quiet affirmation—that diplomacy in uniform walks not just in parades, but in moments of understanding, in shared strategies, and in the mutual respect of nations who choose to grow together.
