The group of sixteen social media influencers arrived in the Sri Lanka on an invitation by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Sri Lanka Embassy in France on 29th April 2023 and concluded the trip on 9th May 2023. Social Media influencers, while exploring Sri Lanka, promoted the highlights of their journey on their digital and social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. They have their own selected fan base on their respective social media platforms, and updated their fans about each location they visited and a short description about the place. The group traveled around the island covering the locations such as Sigiriya, Ella, Passikudah, Trincomalee, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Polonnaruwa. The visitors enjoyed their visit to the maximum provided with the amazing hospitality and warmth which the Sri Lankans provided. They had an interesting safari at Eco Park Habarana , and had a memorable experience exploring the ancient ruins in Polonnaruwa. They were very much impressed with the various travel and holiday opportunities that Sri Lanka had as a renowned travel destination, and considered this as an opportunity to spread the positive message to their fellow citizens back at home. Various Tourism stakeholders such as Jetwing Hotels, Aitken Spence Travels, Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Trillium Hotels, Mount Lavinia Hotel, Siddhalepa Hotels, Bellevue Beach Hotel, collaborated with Sri Lanka Tourism to organize this promotion.
Spain is one of the fastest recovery markets for Sri Lanka Tourism after the pandemic. Spanish market is being focused this year in consideration of market trends and increases in the popularity of Sri Lanka after the pandemic. This social media influencer FAM Trip is organized as a part of Sri Lanka Tourism Strategy to promote and market Sri Lanka as a preferred destination in the Spanish Market. As it is under the European market, Spain can be a crucial destination to bring an influx of tourists to Sri Lanka, given the necessary promotion and recognition. Spain has also been included in the top 12 markets during the month of April. Therefore, a lot of potential is seen in this market, and it can be further increased by creating awareness on Sri Lanka and its uniqueness as a travel destination, offering the perfect choice for an enthusiastic traveler.
