Sri Lanka Strengthens Hong Kong Trade Links Ahead of Global Expo 2026

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) held a high-level meeting with Mr. Hung Chiu Wah Derek, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to Hong Kong, on 6 February 2026, highlighting Hong Kong’s strategic role as a gateway to East Asian and global markets.

Chaired by the EDB Chairman and CEO, the meeting focused on enhancing trade collaboration, building stronger buyer-seller networks, and expanding the global reach of Sri Lankan exports, particularly Ceylon Tea. Mr. Hung emphasized value addition, branding, and targeted promotions to strengthen Sri Lanka’s presence in premium and niche markets.

A key highlight was Sri Lanka Expo 2026 (18–21 June, BMICH), with Hong Kong invited to support a buyer delegation expected to generate significant business opportunities. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to trade diplomacy and deepening bilateral commercial ties.
