Top Defence Officials Convene to Work Through Land Issues and Advance Jaffna Handover

Top Defence officials, led by Deputy Minister Major General Aruna Jayasekara and Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha, convened in Colombo to work through ongoing challenges related to the return of private lands in the Jaffna-Palali area. The meeting focused on reviewing the military’s phased withdrawal, finalizing new boundary arrangements to protect civilians and defence installations, and ensuring a smooth, fair, and transparent handover process. Officials also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to resolving land issues as part of national reconciliation and long-term security planning.
