“Resilience and Recovery Beyond The Impacts of Covid-19 on Sri Lanka Tourism Development”

The Tourism Study Programs, Department of Economics, University of Colombo in collaboration with the Alumni Association of Tourism, Economics and Hotel Management, University of Colombo organize the RESILIENCE AND RECOVERY BEYOND COVID-19 ON SRI LANKA TOURISM DEVELOPMENT”the Essay and Presentation competition on the 30th of June 2020 for University and Higher Educational Students.

The main objective of the event is to create a platform for the Future Tourism Leaders of our country to bring their ingenious and creative ideas and concepts to one platform beyond the Post COVID-19 and Sri Lanka Tourism Development and identify the best among best and appreciate their valuable insights.

The deadline for the submission of the essays and presentations will be on 20th of June2020. The Essays and the Presentations will be evaluated by:

  • Rev. Prof. (Dr.) W. Wimalaratana – Department of Economics, University of Colombo
  • Deshabandu Prof. Jeeva  Niriella – Faculty of Law, University of Colombo
  • Dr. Mubarak Kaldeen  – Senior Lecturer, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka
  • Dr. ShaminiPerera – Head of Faculty of Management, Sri Lanka Technology Campus
  • Dr. Himali de Silva – Senior Lecturer, Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo
  • Mr .GamunuGunawardena  – Chairman, Winstone Group
  • Ms. Githanjali Chakravarthy – General Manager, Hilton Yala and
  • Ms. Bhagya Mahavithanage – Assistant Director, SLTDA

The top 10 best articles along with the best presentations will be selected and the Winner will be awarded a family outing package for four people in any Asia Leisure Hotel with a valuable certificate and the selected 10 best articles will be published and launched as a publication in International Tourism Research Conference 2020 and will be awarded with a valuable certificate.

A survey on industry consultation for Sri Lanka Tourism

In addition to the competition the students of Masters in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management Program (2019) at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo intend to conduct a survey with the purpose of evaluating the impact of COVID-19 on Travel and Tourism industry in Sri Lanka.
