Export Board Ramps Up Efforts to Get Disrupted Export Operations Back on Track

Sri Lanka’s Export Development Board (EDB) has intensified its rapid relief and recovery programme to restore export operations disrupted by recent severe weather conditions. Senior officials convened to review the impact on exporters and outline targeted measures to stabilise the sector.

The EDB has commenced detailed damage assessments to identify the exporters most affected and to guide tailored relief interventions. Key priorities include minimising operational disruptions, safeguarding production capacity, and reactivating supply chains halted by the adverse weather. These measures aim to ensure a continuous flow of goods to international markets and support exporters in maintaining consistent output levels.

To ease logistical constraints, the EDB is working closely with customs, port authorities and logistics providers to accelerate export clearances and address infrastructure-related delays. Particular emphasis is being placed on assisting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to restore their operations swiftly, recognising their essential contribution to the export economy.

The discussion also underscored the growing frequency of climate-related challenges and the need for proactive, sustainable responses. By promoting green technologies and integrating environmental sustainability into export practices, the EDB aims to strengthen long-term resilience, enhance global competitiveness and support exporters in adapting to evolving climate conditions.
