An Island’s Flex in the Furnace of Commerce

In the luminous halls of Sharjah, where trade pulses beneath glass domes and desert sun, Sri Lanka entered the arena—not with grandeur, but with grounded grace. From June 17th to 19th, the Middle East Rubber and Tyre Expo 2025 hosted ten Sri Lankan SMEs under the national export brand “Your Vital Island”, coordinated by the Export Development Board (EDB) and the Sri Lanka Consulate General in the UAE.
This marked a turning point—no longer just exporters of raw rubber, Sri Lankan companies like Samson Rubber Compounds, Ceytra, Textrip, Autoways, and others revealed a landscape of innovation: solid tyres, rubber sheets, moulded goods, sports gear, and auto parts. Each item carried the silent weight of heritage, precision, and the island’s growing command in global value chains.
Beyond the Expo, Sri Lanka’s presence expanded into dialogue. At Dubai’s Pullman Creek Hotel, the Sri Lanka Business Council of the Emirates convened an evening of insight and exchange, led by Ambassador-Designate H.E. Arusha Cooray and Consul General-Designate Mr. Alexi Gunasekera. Sri Lankan entrepreneurs introduced not only products—but purpose—building bridges with international delegates in a space where commerce met culture.
In the furnace of global trade, Sri Lanka showed more than resilience—it showed range. This quiet, confident presence in Sharjah and Dubai revealed a nation not only participating in industry, but shaping it. And like rubber itself, the island bends—never breaks—as it stretches toward new horizons.
